F. incandescent. See {Candle}.] White, glowing, or luminous, with intense heat; as, incandescent carbon or platinum; hence, clear; shining; brilliant. It was inventerd by Thomas Edison, and was once called the {Edison lamp}; -- called also {incandescence lamp}, and {glowlamp}.
